On airPractical AI for your business

I try the AI on my own business first. Then I tell you what's real.

There's a new model every week and a new tool every day, and somebody always says it changes everything. I run On Point Tech in Los Gatos on this stuff, so I find out what works by using it. This is where I put what happened in AI today, what I tested, and what I'd pay for.

AI news briefing

Ranked by how many newsrooms are carrying each story. One outlet is a headline. Five is a story.

Updated from 17 newsrooms and labs

Quiet news day. Only a few AI stories have been picked up by more than one newsroom so far, so the rest of the list is single-outlet stories from the newsrooms I follow.

    Also covered by 3 more
  2. Anthropic expected to receive high ‘junk' rating from credit agencies following IPO, FT report says (opens in a new tab)

    Also covered by 1 more
  3. Nvidia weighs playing the cosigner for Nscale’s AI data center in West Virginia (opens in a new tab)

  7. Ollie, a privacy-focused AI assistant, is shutting down (opens in a new tab)

  8. Anthropic VS code extension on Cursor backdoored for nearly 12 hours (opens in a new tab)

Every headline links to the original reporting. I don't rewrite anybody's story.

Tested on my own business

Every one of these runs at On Point Tech right now. When something didn't work, I posted that too.

Who's Mike

I grew up in Sunnyvale, in and out of my dad's auto shop. That's where I learned business: fix it right, hand back the keys, earn the next customer. I studied fashion marketing at the Art Institute of San Francisco, which really means I learned how to make people want something. I've lived in Vietnam and Germany. I've run my own businesses with my own money, and made my own mistakes with it.

Back in 2014 I was already testing Dragon NaturallySpeaking because I wanted to talk instead of type. Twelve years later I build AI systems for a living. Same itch.

Today I run On Point Tech Solutions in Los Gatos. We build websites, booking, and AI follow-up for local businesses, and the business owns all of it.
